Jordan Peterson Is A Climate Denialist. Why Is He Treated As An Intellectual?

This is hardly the first or last article to come out this week- let alone this month or year- about the right-wing "classical liberal" who has been variously described as "the world's most influential public intellectual," the voice of a reborn conservatism, or a racist mythmaker. It is, however, I believe the first to be focused on a topic that rarely- if ever- receives attention as point of contention among "intellectuals." Jordan Peterson is, put simply, a denier of climate change. Going against the grain of 97 percent of scientists who have studied the matter, he has expressed the opinion that there has been "no warming over the past decade," and that "the planet appears to be cooling," truly unbelievable statements that any educated person should be frankly ashamed of believing. Peterson has pushed the ludicrous claim that "human emissions of carbon dioxide have saved life on Earth from inevitable starvation ...

What is Subfascism? The Post-Ideological Future of The Military-Corporatist Far-Right

“If you want to see our future, look at Brazil,” noted Dr. Bones, an egoist commentator based in the US, in a recent episode of The Guillotine Podcast. He noted that streets of São Paulo and other cities across Brazil have become ungovernable, allowing for the rise of both criminal gangs and leftist movements. However, they have also been a public theatre for the return of a worrying fascist tendency growing increasingly powerful across the Americas and the world, particularly in the Philippines and the United States. This political tendency, defined by Noam Chomsky and Edward Herman as "subfascism" may act as the chief opponent to radical change across the world in the coming decades. With the mass slaughter of proletarians under Rodrigo Duterte, the horrific concentration camps for refugee children under Trump, and the rise of ultra-rightist and violent militarist and misogynist Jair Bolsonaro in Brazil amid the assassination of left-wing social movement leaders, it...

Paris, #MayDay 2018: To Those Who Side With Windows (Communique)

This year's May Day protests in France were unusually lively . Along with a contingent of establishment unions and political parties (France Insoumise, CGT, etc), anarchists and revolutionaries made a major appearance. Their actions drew swift condemnation from the political class and already the CRS has decided that they weren't repressive enough, even as over 250 "Euro Anarchists" were arrested. What upsets Macron, LePen, and Melenchon so much about the antifas? Police claim that 31 shops were smashed, of which 2 were burned, 6 vehicles were burned down and 10 others were smashed. This is, of course, grossly hypocritical: police conducted a military-style assault against the ZAD, destroying countless squats and buildings, and have also evicted students and young people from universities across Paris, breaking down the barricades. Furthermore, Emmanuel Macron attacked various research facilities and apartment blocks in Syria just two weeks ago. Antifas, meanwh...
